I thought Shanghai was going to be bad! </p> <p>Aside from that&#8230; M arrived on Thursday and will be here for another couple of days. She&#8217;s been trying to teach me some Mandarin, and now I know enough to say I can&#8217;t speak it, and the number of ways I can&#8217;t speak it. That means I&#8217;ll have to walk down the street and wait in line at the consulate for a visa. M reminds me I also need a polio booster. She also gave me a SARS mask in case I get trapped in any crowded, unventilated areas.</p> <p>So I&#8217;m trying to read up on Shanghai and I&#8217;m already overwhelmed.
