Nice items from The Millions today. I just learned that the eyewear that Chekhov’s sporting is known as a “pince-nez” (not sure on translation—pinch nose?) which is about three months away from being appropriated by near-sighted hipsters from Bushwick to the Mission. I mean that; I was looking for glasses on Warby Parker (hey, cheap and socially conscious), and they’re selling an honest-to-God monocle. A monocle! I suppose I don’t travel in the circles where a monocle would be a welcome addition to my face. The “Admiral Carstairs” look is probably a good effect for people who are often outraged or surprised.
